The Texas Department of Public Safety selected Satterfield & Pontikes Construction to serve as the primary contractor on the new crime lab in Garland. The four-story, Class-A structure is the center of DPS criminal investigation operations in North Texas.

Scope of work on this project included:

• Strict management of the tight construction area for improved operations
• A four-floor crime laboratory constructed primarily of concrete
• A vehicle search bay, evidence storage rooms and victim screening
• Indoor ballistics test fi ring area
• A new, state-of-the-art DNA laboratory
• $5 million in advanced equipment is housed in the new building
• Ensuring extensive coordination with subcontractors and precise scheduling to keep the project on schedule
• Structural steel frame, concrete pier foundation
